About

“Behold I do not give lectures or a little charity.
When I give, I give myself.”
-Walt Whitman

Hi there! This is the second reincarnation of an old blog, www.freddaruth.com, that expired prematurely. I have been backpacking since 2009 and now I am very busy updating my blog! Right now, I’m just pasting on here the entries from my Facebook, so I apologize for the haphazard feel of the writing. I will revise and improve the entries later.

Thank you for visiting my blog.

Here’s some more information about myself:

I love like there is no tomorrow. When I’m not pondering about the meaning of existence, you can find me reading, hiking, hanging out in the waterfalls, going to different places to sample their cuisine and native delicacies, petting my cats or writing sociological articles.

My passions and interests are: the great outdoors, off-the-beaten path travel, cats, wild mammals and insects, live music (esp. rock), calligraphy, oil pastel art, graphic novels, sacred art, world literature, organic food, the paranormal and occult (don’t worry, I don’t practice, it’s just fascinating), goth, horror movies, boardgames, politics, history, theater, political activism, Science, anthropology, metaphysics, evolutionary biology, creating beautiful pictures, bikini trekking (LOL~), etc.

What I’m doing with my life
I’m a freelance trek guide. I have plenty of free time for parties, food trips, day hikes, etc. although I’m actually a bookworm: I love curling up in bed with a classic novel or one on evolutionary biology.

I am often traveling- waterfalls, caves, hiking in the mountains in the outskirts of Manila. I also sometimes go backpacking in the outer islands and in SE Asia, too. Often along, so please join me~ I have a blog full of pictures, all you have to google “freddaruth tumblr” and freddaruth. I also have Instagram called “freddaflintstone” if you wanna see some of the nice places I visit.

I love exploring my outer world through nature spots and also my inner world through creative pursuits and writing. I have been working as a freelance writer for a long time actually.

I’m really good at:
Posting pics of me hiking and trekking in Instagram, procrastinating, applying make-up from the back of a moving motorcycle, and spotting cuddly cats in any new place I visit. I think I’m also fairly good in backpacking as this brief article in Yahoo says.

The first things people usually notice about me:
My tanned skin.

Six things I could never do without:
1. extra virgin olive oil.
2. books to read before I sleep (or magazines, such as British music mags, Science mags. etc)
3. hot tea ( I don’t drink coffee)
4. cats
5. enough money so I can travel and not feel stressed about my life
6. lipstick

I spend a lot of time thinking about:
evolutionary biology, the paranormal and occult, metaphysical subjects, poverty, world politics, my own situation, my vanity and my narcissism, my predilection to join dating sites like these, and cats- my main obsession in life. Actually the truth is I spend a lot of time thinking about thinking, and thinking about the existence of nonexistence as in zero.

On a typical Friday night I am:
socializing, eating in restaurants OR curled up in bed with a good book, perhaps a classic novel by Edith Wharton or War and Peace.

Or maybe if I’m lucky, packing stuff for an out of town trip during the weekend- I love to go camping, hiking in the mountains in Rizal, Laguna, Bulacan, going to the beach, etc
