Sumilon Island exploded in the tourism scene of Oslob, Cebu only recently. It really is the perfect activity after whaleshark watching which is only done in the morning. I liked that the trips are well-organized by the community and are quite efficient. Boats full of tourists never stop coming and going all day.
The sandbar itself is pretty small and the waters translucent and superb. Take note that the waves can get pretty active sometimes, bad idea for poor and panicky swimmers like me- personally I prefer seas that are lagoon-like and tranquil. Of course, despite the winds, the parts close to the shore are safe for swimming. Life guards are also actively patrolling.
The big number of tourists and the size of the island give it a fiesta-like atmosphere.
The short sandbar of Sumilon Island is so white and pretty.
By the way, we waited for quite a while for our boat that would take us to Sumilon Island. If you’re easily bored, bring a magazine or something. Or you can walk around and take photos of the rocky beach like what I did.

Have no idea what “Bofa Collector” is but let’s just assume that bofa means boyfriend. 😉
How to Go to Sumilon Island:
Take a bus going to Bato at Cebu’s South Bus Terminal. Get off in front of Sumilon port. Take nore that the “via Barili” route will not pass by Sumilon port.
You may also rent the whole boat for P1500.
